Petite Sonnerie

A watchmaking complication a petite sonnerie refers to a mechanism that strikes the hours and quarters without repeating the hours at each quarter.

It is therefore different from the grande sonnerie which repeats the hours at every quarter.

It can be set to strike the hours “on demand” which is then activated by pressing a push-button.
A push-button or a slide is also used to silence the function.

The petit sonnerie is still quite rare on watches despite being considerably less complex than the grande sonnerie.
