Bridge

A bridge is a metal component attached to a watch’s mainplate to form the frame of a watch movement. There are several in each movement and they are named according to their function; barrel bridge, wheel train bridge, escapement wheel bridge. The balance cock is also a bridge but secured to the movement plate only at one end. Some bridges in more expensive watches are decorated with engravings or decorative patterning known as Geneva stripes, Faussess Cotes or Cote de Geneve.
