Adjustment

Its a complicated procedure to adjust a mechanical watch and this mainly involves adjustment of the balance and the balance spring. Once the crown has been wound until the spring is tight the energy stored it is then released and multiple wheels containing teeth and pinions are driven. A lever regulates the amount of energy released and using power from the balance-spring causes the teeth to move in turn one at a time. A device called an index regulator is used to tune the balance-spring by changing the length of it.
