Girard-Perregaux have a new World Timer model to add to their portfolio and true to form it is superb.
Girard-Perregaux really do make an excellent world timer watch. With 24 instantly readable timezones plus a chronograph function and a date indication it is not only useful, but its ingenious mechanics which enable setting via a single crown mean that it is pretty fool-proof too. Over the years Girard-Perregaux have nurtured this collection, tweaked it and have given it a few make-overs, but these have been tastefully done, proving that once you have a well-designed product, it will absorb anything that your design department wish to throw at it.
Perhaps you feel that A World Wide Time Control watch (ww.tc) harks back to a golden age when long distance travel was to be enjoyed rather than endured ? Well, surprisingly despite all of our modern-day technology and devices, a mechanical wristwatch which has the ability to display current time in locations all over the world at a glance is still considered to be a highly useful piece of kit. Of all the World Time models available, Girard-Perregaux’s collection is one of the most useable and legible.
Girard-Perregaux Traveller WW.TC Titanium DLC – A Neat Dial Arrangement
To maintain clarity on such a busy dial is no mean feat, particularly when you have a blacked-out model such as this new Titanium edition. At the heart of the success of the Girard-Perregaux ww.tc. collection is a neatly laid-out dial arrangement with no fussy features. From the dial edge and working your way inwards, you will notice the city ring on which each location is clearly displayed in orderly double rows. Next, the 24-hour ring which indicates the time in each city and which has been split into black and white so that it easily defines day and night hours. On the dial, the trio of counters take up their orderly positions at the 3, 6 and 9 o’clock locations allowing for ease of use and quick reading of the chronograph functions.
Girard-Perregaux Traveller WW.TC Titanium DLC – Shadowy Aesthetics
Since its major overhaul last year the Girard-Perregaux ww.tc. has had texture added to its centre dial with a motif representing the Global meridian lines. This new feature gave the collection a revitalised “clean” appearance, largely due to the use of dot hour markers rather than numerals. This latest edition inherits this arrangement replicating it with shadowy monochrome aesthetics to great effect. The case is made from titanium DLC and measures 44mm across. Inside, the Girard-Perregaux automatic in-house calibre GP03300-0083 gives a power reserve of 46 hours. Functions are hour, minute, small seconds, chronograph, date and world time with day/night indicator.

This latest addition to the portfolio, the new Titanium DLC model is strikingly handsome, highly useful and promises to wear light on the wrist – it’s perfect, really. The new Girard-Perregaux Traveller WW.TC Titanium DLC has a retail price of $18,300.
