The Glashütte PanoMaticInverse which debut’s at Baselworld 2014 is the successor to the PanoInverse which was released in 2008. The PanoInverse was the first watch from Glashütte Original to use inverse positioning; this involves the repositioning of watch parts from the rear of the watch -and typically only observable through the case back- to the front and presented on the dial. In order to do this it meant the redesign and refinement of certain components. This in turn led to an entirely new design of the Calibre 66 manual winding movement.
Glashütte PanoMaticInverse – Baselworld 2014
The Glashütte PanoMaticInverse takes the idea further. It uses the new and redesigned Calibre 91-02, an automatic movement with a 42 hour power reserve. On the front of the watch there is a small dial showing hours and minutes places to the left of the dials centre and a smaller seconds sub-dial. There is also the Panorama Date completing the timekeeping aspects. The dial also showcases the classical Glashütte three-quarters plate which has been rhodium finished and embellished with Glashütte waves. The duplex swan’s neck fine adjustment along with blued screws and rubies are also viewable on the front side. It is also possible to view the screw balance oscillating freely beneath the elegantly engraved balance bridge.
On the rear of the movement and viewable through the caseback is a skeletonised central rotor equipped with a 21-carat gold oscillating mass. The rotor track with ornate decorations is also visible as well as the emblematic Glashütte ribbing, a quantity of rubies, and the two-tone engravings on the wheel bridge.
Glashütte PanoMaticInverse (Caseback) – Baselworld 2014
The Glashütte PanoMaticInverse comes in two versions that will be available in the Summer of 2014. One is presented in a satin brushed and polished 18k red gold case with with gold appliques and Louisiana Alligator nubuck leather strap in brown . While the second version is in a satin brushed and polished stainless steel case blue appliques and a appropriately matching strap in dark blue Louisiana Alligator. Both version are 42mm in size and fitted with a fold-over clasp in red gold or stainless steel, depending on the model. Retail prices have yet to be announced but anticipated prices are between $15,000 – $28,000.
